Carlos’ Story
I had just gotten a letter from the police academy saying I had been accepted. Shortly after that I was diagnosed with MS. I felt devastated. I wasn't sure I wanted to share it. I was most worried about my future and scared of losing my wife. I didn't know anything about MS.
When I first got diagnosed, the doctor had someone from the MS Society talk to me. I got on the MS Society's website to get information regarding new medication or any [other] type of resources.”
It's very important to connect with other people that have MS because they understand what you're going through. I look forward to coming [to support group and volunteering]. I feel like I’m worth something.
The Society has helped me with my journey with MS tremendously… I feel like I can move forward with my life. Don't let MS define who you are. You determine the future.”
