The new Surgeon General’s warning:
Loneliness is harming America
“Humans are wired for social connection, but we’ve become more isolated over time.” - Vivek Murthy
We all know we’re supposed to exercise regularly and eat healthy foods; however, the Surgeon General is now warning us about an obviously concerning trend of human disconnect, directly affecting our mental, physical and emotional health.
Our solution?
Get involved in something you care about.
According to Gallup, only 33% of American employees are engaged with their work. Fortunately, many studies have shown that volunteer programs can increase employee engagement and help organizations grow. Unfortunately, since the pandemic, prospective volunteers and nonprofits alike have continued to experience some disconnect within their communities.
The LiVE initiative (Leadership in Volunteer Engagement) bridges the gap by connecting passionate professionals to volunteer leadership roles with the agencies they really care about. This collaboration between Combined Health Agencies Drive (CHAD) and its 24 statewide member agencies ensures volunteers can easily connect with the agencies that need them.
Whether you’re ready to join a board of directors, an event committee, or simply assist at an event registration table, you’ve come to the right place! Just click on any member agency below to review its opportunities; if interested in learning more details about CHAD and/or these opportunities, please reach out to Shonda or Kari to get started.
On behalf of CHAD and all statewide member agencies, we thank you in advance for giving back in such a meaningful, purposeful way to ALL Nebraskans, including yourself!
The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. – Gandhi
