Eian’s Story

Eian.jpg

Eian had always had problems going to the restroom but in April of 2015, he became very sick.   We once again brought him to Boys Town and they immediately sent us to a GI doctor.  After a visit, a test and then his colonoscopy, we were told he had Crohn’s disease at the end of June 2015.  He was placed on steroids and his infusions were every seven weeks. The steroids made him fat - he's very skinny naturally, and was very upset upon returning to school after the summer break.  Infections were a constant concern the first year and Eian missed a lot of school with infusions, C. difficile infections and just being sick.  During week 7 of his infusions, he began having breakthrough symptoms. He needed to go back to infusions every 4 weeks and was told his Crohn’s disease was now in his esophagus, in addition to his small and large intestines. Eian continues to get infusions every 5 weeks but is now in Remission! He chooses not to tell his friends what's wrong or why he misses school.  He doesn't want his friends to know about his Crohn’s disease because he doesn't think they will like him anymore or be his friend any more. Eian wishes his Crohn’s would just go away so he could be a ‘normal’ kid.
